Day 23 – 1/22/16
Timer: on…so above is a photo of me stilt walking and doing stage combat, yesterday…
One of the added benefits of this 38 Day Journey/Ritual towards Love/Acceptance or a “Towards a Method for Matrimony” or “A 38-Day Journey Where a Girl Does Yoga in Red Sweatpants that Say Love” or “The Ironic Journey of the Anti-Bride”…is that I am getting stronger and walking in stilts is a lot easier when you're stronger and balanced…I found that the first time I walked I was not as strong on my left leg, but last night I noticed there was very little difference between the two legs…
Another added benefit, apparently, is that my heart rate is lower…I think that benefit of meditation is taking effect…
Now, where were we?
Aw, yes, we just finished the Triangle series in the Standing portion of the practice.
The next portion is the Standing Balance part. In that we have already discussed that tricky bird of prey: The Eagle/Garudasana, and I think I already beat that bird to death (sorry for the bad witticism…).
Which means we are on to Taludadasana/Balancing Stick pose. The little saying on the card is “I hold my ground with determination.” Sure…it’s not the hardest pose, but it has all these benefits:
Those were the benefits from the little cards, but THE YOGA HANDBOOK says all the standing balances have these benefits:
Why not?
So…the obvious benefit of working the heart applies to this little journey I’ve put myself on, and it can’t hurt to tone all the areas that it mentions…those seem to be the favorite areas of female body for those that cherish it…
And…concentration and balance are important for long-term relationships, in general…you must concentrate and be mindful of the relationship and of the other person…AND…you must balance your life to give the relationship and the significant other the attention they deserve.
Lastly, I think to continue this conversation, the little saying on the card, which says, “I hold my ground with determination,” is a little aphorism to remind one’s self to keep their own personality and not lose themselves in the other person…that maintaining the person that your significant other fell in love with, is important…
And, with that, I am done for today…according to the timer…

- Tones the legs, hips, buttocks, shoulders, and arms.
- Increases circulation and works the heart.
- Improves concentration and balance.
Those were the benefits from the little cards, but THE YOGA HANDBOOK says all the standing balances have these benefits:
- Toning and strengthening the muscles of the legs, knees, and feet.
- Encouraging the balanced development of the muscles of the torso, abdominals, and back muscles.
- Encouraging the stretching out of the spinal column.
