At SUNY Sullivan I am the advisor for the Performing Arts Club. This a student run organization through Student Activities and the Faculty/Student Association. From 2014-the present we have done the following:
- Raised funds for a Broadway Show trip for every semester: THE LION KING, WICKED, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, KINKY BOOTS (twice), CHICAGO, LATIN HISTORY FOR MORONS, and COME FROM AWAY (with a talk-back with actor Geno Carr)
- From 2015-2019 we have held a World AIDS Day Foundation Musical Revue/Talent Show, to raise money for AIDS/HIV research and to help people in disenfranchised countries receive the medications they need to survive.
- Every semester from 2014-the present, we have, at least, three all-ages Karaoke, Improv Nights, and Open Mics, in the Student Union, to engage more students on campus and in the community in the performing arts.
- We have participated with the Honors Program on the Help For Hunger weekend (2016) https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=help%20for%20hunger and their NF walk (2017) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10211740848381195&set=a.3693642424148.166194.1367920399&type=3&theater
- We have weekly workshops to further their professional development in the performing arts. Workshops include: Singing international songs, a lecture from Special Effects/Designer Markus Maurette (HARRY POTTER), stage management, set design, costume design, Monologue Auditioning, Cold Reading auditioning, Musical Theater auditions, lighting design, sound design, sound engineering, projection design, tap dancing, improv, portfolio development, and transfer workshops to a four-year performing arts program.
