Day 47
Timer on…
Well, today was a big day. I had to walk the dogs (as usual) and then shovel snow for about a half hour (as usual). I then went to Ellenville, NY, (about an hour drive) to pick up some props and go out to brunch with my office mate, then I drove another hour to Livingston Manor, NY, for rehearsal for the NACL Theatre’s WEATHER PROJECT, I play one of the Fossil Fuel Gang (Oil), and then I (finally) drove home to Jeffersonville, NY, (another 40 minutes)…the Shandalee, NY, pass is not the safest, this time of year, so…I had to drive slow… I got home, walked the dogs (as usual) and then promptly went back in because the wind chill was like negative 30, so…me and the dogs mutually decided to run back home…it was too cold to walk. Actually, Gus decided to run, but…I agreed with him… So…we ran… I then got home, made dinner, worked on music for HANDS ON A HARDBODY, then my brain froze…too much music…because all the driving today also involved working on music for HANDS ON A HARDBODY…so…I took a bath, and then I was really excited to begin the ritual of the mourning asanas for my Dad…to clear my head.
The poses/asanas have just been getting better and better. I still cannot do the full position for Natarajasana (Dancer) pose, and I quite certain that only freaks of nature can, but…I’ll make that like my goal of someday doing the Sunday New York Times Crossword: That as soon as I accomplish that, I will turn into a white light and disappear (because I will be perfect)…so…I guess my phoenix right now is…Natarajasana (Dancer) and someday I’ll be able to do it. I am also (still) unable to do the Dolphin pose with my heels all the way on the ground, but…I, actually, think that is a possible goal to be met in (possibly) the next 20 days…we’ll see…they feel like they’re getting closer to the ground. Lastly, the Garudasana (Eagle) pose on the right standing leg still doesn’t have my hips all the way forward, but…(again) I think this is an accomplishable goal in the next 20 days.
Tomorrow I think I might launch into some discussion about Shatkarma…and the Crown Chakra Yoga Mudra that I do at the end of the asanas/poses. Shatkarma (with its unfortunate name) has been very therapeutic and, I think, I now know why, after going slowly through all the definitions of the poses and their Chakras. The Crown Chakra Yoga Mudra has also been really therapeutic, however, I am less sure, why, so…that will need more research…
More tomorrow…Happy Sunday!
