Day 38
Timer on…
Well, today is Day 39, but…I plan to double-down today. Yesterday was a crazy day. I taught at 9AM, and then I had some meetings, presided over auditions for my colleague’s VDAY 2015 Season, ran home to feed the dogs, was back for the second portion of the VDAY 2015 Season auditions, set up for the Performing Arts Club’s Karaoke Night, drove home, and made it by midnight…it was too late for the series. And, then, this morning, I had to drive to Cochecton, NY, to pick up wood pellets for the stove before the Mill closed and then drive up to the Iyengar Yoga class I go to sometimes. I then went grocery shopping, took the dogs for their second walk, and did my Day 38. So…technically I’ve already done yoga twice today, but…to be fair, I will do one more series tonight for good measure.
It’s nice to go to a yoga class sometimes. A teacher can look at your form and tell you what to improve on…or…make you aware of things that you are doing that you may not be aware of. Today I discovered that I’ve been lazy with my elbows for the 18 years I’ve been practicing yoga. I didn’t realize that they should always be striving to be together. Also, the fact that my right side of my lower back has been bothering has translated to rolling in my hip…I didn’t realize I was doing that…so I fixed it during class today.
My back is still hurting, but the Iyengar is very easy for me…so…I didn’t mind doing it for an hour. It’s more like a class that helps me clean up my poses and my journey. So…today when I just did the Day 38 Series, I focused a little more on making sure my hips were in the correct spot and that my elbows were striving to be together…
Also, I learned today that in Iyengar that focus on standing poses at the beginning of the month. I have noticed that all the work I’ve been doing daily has definitely helped my standing poses, and focusing on them this morning really helped see how far I’ve come in a little over a month.
So…I think I was about ready to define a whole bunch of things and then my “internet/phone hot spot” was being a jerk. But…I think I’ll wait to define that later, and start on the Benefits of the poses from each of the last three Chakras.
But…we have run out of time…more later…
