Day 30
Timer on…
Well, I’m caught up…even though I didn’t, technically, do yesterday, I double-downed today to make it up.
And…just as predicted, the night series is always quieter in my brain, so…I didn’t have any amazing revelations during the practice today and there weren’t any hiccups in any of the positions that isn’t the norm (i.e., I still can’t do Natarajasana in its fullest position or Dolphin, so…those are still at that the same point they’ve been for awhile).
So…I guess we’ll continue to focus on the next two Chakras…
I was at “adrenal glands” for the endocrine system (that place where the brain releases the hormones that regulate stress, sex, emotions, etc.), and the specific hormone that is released with the Svadhisthasana Chakra is the adrenal gland…which is located on top of the kidneys. The are responsible for releasing hormones in response to stress…and will also make people store food when under stress because the hormone thinks that the body is in “survival” mode. Hmmmm…so…this leads me to believe and confirms an earlier hypothesis, that I gained some weight after my Dad’s death and it hasn’t fallen off because the body is holding onto it…the adrenal glands are still producing too much cortisol…Ugh!
The obvious vital organs for the Svadhisthana (navel chakra) are the kidneys and the intestines. It’s general function is digestion and “referring to the ability to absorb, assimilate, and nourish on a physical as well as metaphoric level as an attitude toward life and experience. This center is also the origin of movement.” Hmmm…again these poses help with the ability to re-teach the body how to calm the adrenal glands so they don’t go into survival mode and helps with digestion (which, when at its best, digests quickly).
Alright, the other poses that tied with this Chakra was the Muladhara (Base Chakra). The Color is red, the element, earth, the endocrine system are the gonads (ovaries and prostate gland). The vial organs are the reproductive organs, the rectum, and the anus. The general functions of these poses are reproductions and elimination. “Related to the ability to let go or get rid of the unwanted or unnecessary, as well as relating to the source of abundant energy.” So…these poses want me to reaffirm life by creating a relaxed area to make babies…unfortunately for the fates of mourning…I can’t have children…so…this pose is not going to help me transition by getting the body ready for reproduction, but it is “related to the ability to let go or get rid of the unwanted or unnecessary, as well as relating to the source of abundant energy…” It is unnecessary to be super sad for three years straight, so…I need to reflect in these poses, I guess on letting go and getting rid of what is unnecessary in regards to my mourning and to find a transition out of it.
So…Child’s Pose, Balasana, Vajrasana…the mystery is going to be explored tomorrow…finally…it is the first pose to be explored in the Svadhisthasana Chakra poses.
That’s all for today…
