Day 29
Timer on…
Well, technically this is Day 30, but I have degenerative back disorder, which, by the way, I think is a dumb diagnosis because don’t we all have “degenerative back disorder”?, but, anyway, sometimes it flares up, usually from something stupid like making the bed or reaching up to move the shower curtain (those both happened…before…), and, yesterday, I had a flare up. I decided not to tempt fate and just stretch it out during the day and then try again this morning to accomplish the series. It felt better this morning and so…I did the series this morning, and, I will do the series again tonight to catch up…
So…today’s series was different largely because I have tried to stick to doing the series in the evening because my mind tends to be quieter, and, sure enough, my mind was very noisy this morning… I was worried and reflecting on my nephew Luke who just had a surgery to correct his cleft lip/nose and then, insult to injury, he has an infection of some sort that the doctors can’t pinpoint, but the poor thing is spiking high fevers… Anyway, I just used a lot of this series to pray/reflect on him and hope for some healing and relief from his little man troubles… I also thought about my little doppelganger, Addie, and her mom Grayson, whose family just experienced a death. Grayson is a fellow yogi, so…I reflected on her and the struggles the family will be going through while they are mourning… I also thought about the drawing I have in my front room that I took from VSA North Fourth Art Center, which was drawn and colored by a man with a developmental disability and who is the kindest soul I have ever met, and, yet, he walks feet that look to be the most painful feet I have ever seen…I have always wondered how a man, who sufferers such pain could be so unconditionally kind…I hope to find that someday… My struggles seem so silly in comparison… I also thought about the mourning prayer flags that I keep over my Dad’s picture and my friend Robin’s picture as I practice this series, which was given to me after Robin’s death by a student named Meilin. She heard about my friend and she made me a mourning basket. She was adopted from China, but spent some time in Myanmar, so I am unsure what tradition these prayer flags are from, but I’ve decided I should look into it. The colors of the prayer flags also correlate with many of the colors of the Chakras…
Speaking of Chakras…
The next winner of the most in this series is a tie: Svadhisthana (Navel Chakra or Hara) and Muladhara (Base Chakra) with the corresponding colors of orange and red, respectively…
Svadhisthana/Navel Chakra/Hara (I just tried to look this word up, but I can’t find a definition that comes by itself…I’ll have to look at this later). The element is water. The Endocrine system is the adrenal glands. (I guess I have to stop here, and deal with it later today…).
