Day 66
Timer on…
So…technically I did the series hours ago, but…I lost track of time this afternoon, and I had to get ready to be go be a “celebrity server” at the Boys and Girls Club annual fundraiser…I was on Team Alice, and I was the Red Queen. I was sort of a beer stein Red Queen, but…I thought that would help us get tips…so…I German’d myself up…
Anyway, I’m exhausted and typing this up after being there for six hours performing and serving...selling raffle tickets, etc. It was fun, and I hope they made a lot of money…
Something new happened in the series for the first time in about 3 weeks: I finally got my heels all the way to the ground in The Dolphin pose. It was very exciting…I was surprised that it happened…I wasn’t trying to achieve that goal through any kind of force…it just happened. That pose is right at the end of the series too, so…it made the end of the series seem all the more transformative.
As a side note, I’m listning to WJFF, the NPR station here in the Catskills, and I swear this playlist or show that’s going on was written specifically for my Dad. CCR’s “Midnight Hour” was on when I got home and now Johnny Cash is on…crazy…
Tomorrow is my Dad’s birthday. I had a couple of mini-break downs today thinking about him and missing him. I think the day before is always the worst for me on his death day and his birthday…I set myself up for something awful, and then the day of isn’t as bad as I made it out to be in my head. I will be going to the Bronx Botanical Garden (a place we both really loved and had gone to together) with my long-lost friend Pocky. I haven’t seen Pocky in many years, but…I’m excited to spend my Dad’s birthday with someone who knew him and to reconnect with a friend I have missed and adore. It will make the day seem easier.
So…tomorrow will be all about love. The love of nature and a place, the love of the reflection on the person who taught me Divine Love, and the love of reconnecting with people who have brought such love and beauty into my life. Cynicism be damned tonight and tomorrow…I have had a beer or two and I am really looking forward to seeing my friend and focusing on my Dad.
3 Days to go…crazy…
