Day 6
Timer on…
Well, this morning I did about 2 and a half hours of a workout, though, I had to go slowly because my degenerative back disorder is acting up. I’m having a lot of pain on the right hand side of my lower back. Apparently, the injury is on the left hand side but I overcompensate or something, which causes the pain on the right side. Anyway, I haven’t done anything to merit the flare up. Usually, it’s something dumb like making the bed, but…I don’t remember pulling it, so…it must have been from sleeping last night. The best cure for back issues is exercise, so…I just did a lot of back saving poses in my yoga practice this morning. Then, so the workout wasn’t a complete waste I did a wedding arms, legs, and abs workout series.
Supposedly, results for all of this will happen in six weeks, so…it’s good that I started, already, because the wedding as of tomorrow is 2 months away – 8 weeks, so, hopefully, there will be significant results. Some of the articles I have read indicate that the legs don’t matter as much because wedding dresses usually have long skirts, but…I have always believed that arms and abs only get stronger through a full body workout, so…I’m doing everything.
My Amazon Prime account has a lot of aerobic videos, so I think I’m going to try some of them out, but the back pain this morning made me think wiser of doing one of them.
In one more week I will (also) begin a morning training Monday through Thursday at NACL in preparation for our workshop production of COURAGE. I’m excited to see what I’m going to learn and what will be added to this workout. I (also) think I might try swimming (again); since my fiancé will be in charge of a little pool, but, we’ll see because these legs have not seen the sun in (almost) 10 years. Not since I received a terrible sunburn during tech week of an outdoor production of A WINTER’S TALE . However, I suppose that a sunburn should not dissuade me from doing an aerobic exercise that is a lifetime exercise; water is very therapeutic. Also, my fiancé loves water, and, I think, this is something that marriage does: creates environments where one member of the couple encourages another to try something new/something scary…we fill in the blanks for one another…
Anyway, on another note, it is my oldest niece’s birthday today. 4 years ago I tried very hard to go and see her birth, but was stopped by my terrible car. I flew to my sister’s side the next morning, and my heart was filled with such love for my sister and my new niece because life had taken away such a wonderful person in our life: our Dad, in that year, and gaining this little person filled a hole that I didn’t know I had. Money and duty have kept me from seeing her in person, but my heart is with them, always. I hope they are having a grand time today, and, hopefully, I will be able to see them soon. I sent her hand/rod puppets for her birthday because she has started expressing an interest in them, and, of course I’m going to encourage any growing histrionic sensibilities.
